Meet the Librarian
I started Kindergarten at Hatton Elementary School in 1988 and graduated from Hatton High School in 2001. I then received my Bachelor's degree from The University of North Alabama in 2006 to teach secondary science. I taught mostly Biology and a variety of other science classes for 13 years at Lawrence County High School. In 2019, I earned my Master's Degree in Library Media from The University of West Alabama and moved back to where my education started, Hatton Elementary. After three years in the elementary library I transitioned to the high school library and am currently in my third year at HHS. I am married and a mom of both. I love spending time with my family, vacationing, shopping, and reading. Sports keep us on the move. I am the varsity volleyball coach at HHS. Faith, family, friends, and sports are the things that bring the most joy to my life.
As I navigate through my 19th year, I still truly love teaching and interacting with students each day. I hope they learn something from me that will help them in life, not just in school. My philosophy of education is that every student deserves the opportunity to learn, learning doesn’t have to be boring, and love first/teach second. I was much older before I found my love for reading. I hope to help my students find books that intrigue them and hopefully spark a love for reading at an early age and then help them develop those skills as they mature. I am thankful to have this opportunity and excited to see what another year brings here at HHS!
